Why does the number of cooling fins effect the rate of energy transfer from a radiator?

The number of cooling fins effect increases the rate of energy transfer from a radiator. It is because the cooling fins have an enlarged area allows heat to be transferred into the area away from the object it needs to have less heat with. Thereby cooling the object with cooling fins.
