The Cleveland Massacre was instrumental in the rise of
Standard Oil. Rockefeller bought out his
competitors at low prices and this led to the monopolization of the oil
industry under Rockefeller’s control.
Eventually Rockefeller was investigated and his monopoly was broken up
into smaller companies.
