This looks like [tex] \frac{23!}{(23-3)!*3!} [/tex]. Simplify this down to [tex] \frac{23*22*21}{1*2*3} [/tex]. This simplification gives you that 23C3 = 1771. You would have gotten the same result had you drawn out Pascal's Triangle to 24 rows and gone in 3 in that row. That would have been your 1771. Whichever is easiest is the way I recommend.
