PLEASE HELP ASAP
A homeowner decides to tile her rectangular porch floor, which has a length of 30 ft and width of 15 ft. It costs her $2.82 per square foot for tile. If instead she tiles a region that covers half the length and half the width, she will have to pay $317.25. Is this reasonable? Explain.

Total area to be tiled is (30 ft)(15 ft) = 450 ft^2.

At $2.82 per sq ft, that would come to $1269 for the entire floor.

If she tiles only 1/4 of this area, and the tile unit cost is the same, she'd pay $1269/4, or $317.25.  Yes, this is entirely reasonable; she is not being charged anything for having a smaller area than originally specified tiled.
