There are multiple ways to solve this, but the easiest way is doing the square root method.

Since we need to isolate x, first we to subtract 11 on both sides of the equation.

4x^2 + 11 = 60
         -11      -11

4x^2 = 49

Now we need to square root the whole both sides of the equation.

[tex] \sqrt{4x^2} = \sqrt{49} [/tex]

That will get rid of the square on 4x and make is 2x

2x = 7

Now we divide 2 on both sides.

x = 7/2 or 3.5

Since there is 2 values of x, the other value is the negative of 7/2 or 3.5

The answer is x = -3.5 and 3.5
