In a persuasive essay, you are trying to persuade the reader that your opinions are correct, and often that includes references and sources that support it. It is written in third person (not first, like saying "I think" would be), to seem more formal (B), and to seem unbiased (D). These type of essays should feel formal and factual. You are debating one side of an argument to convince the reader that you are an expert, so you should sound like one; you aren't focusing on the writer's views because you have to include the other side of the argument to knock it down and later prove your point. You cannot appeal to everyone in a persuasive essay, either- there will be readers that disagree with you. And lastly, for making it understandable, that's a bonus but not the point of writing it in third person.
