The ratio of papayas to mangoes is 3:4 and the ratio of papaya to apple is 5:2. If there are 27 pieces of apple, hoe many mangoes are there?

Respuesta :

I m not sure of the answer but this is my best try

Papaya: Mango = 3:4
Papaya: Apple   = 5:2
Lets take no of papaya as x

So, 5/2 = x/27
By cross- multiplication, x= 27*5/2
                                       x= 67.5

Total number of papayas = 67.5
Lets take number of mangoes as y

So, 3/4 = 67.5/y
By cross multiplication, y= 90

Therefore, total number of mangoes are 90 mangoes.
Let Papayas be P, Mangoes be M, Apple be A.

Ratio of Papayas to Mangoes = 3:4    P: M = 3:4

Papaya to Apple = 5:2      P:A =  5:2

If Apples A = 27

From P:A =  5:2,  P:27 =  5:2

P/27 = 5/2    Cross multiply

2*P = 5 *27

P = 5*27/2 = 135/2 = 67.5

P:M = 3:4

67.5 : M = 3:4

67.5/M = 3/4        Cross multiply

4*67.5 = 3*M       270 = 3M

3M = 270     Divide through by 3.

M = 270/3 = 90

Number of Mangoes = 90
