A new vehicle, the Transition, is being offered to private pilots as a more convenient and cheaper way to fly. The Transition is an airplane with wings that fold to the sides, so it can be driven like a car. The company states that with a car-plane, trips to the airport are simple: You drive the car to the airport and then take off in the same vehicle. When you land, you fold up the wings and hit the road again. This eliminates expensive hangar fees. After all, you do not have to store the car-plane at an airport. You can park the vehicle in the garage at home.
