Dear Mr. Prime Minister:
Please let me first express my appreciation for the hospitality you are extending to Secretary
Vance. His mission to the Middle East will, I hope, contribute
to progress toward true peace between
Israel and her neighbors.
Because of the special relationship between Israel and the United States, and the importance of
early and full exchanges between our two governments, I also attach particular importance to a meeting
between us at the earliest possible time. I would therefore be most pleased if you would accept my
invitation to visit Washington sometime early in March...
I am confident that US-Israeli relations will continue on the cordial and sound basis that has
characterized the close ties between our countries and people for three decades. I look forward to worki
closely with you in our common search for a lasting peace settlement in the Middle East...
Sincerely,
Jimmy Carter
