Studying Descartes, we have been able to demonstrate that:
a) If we require knowledge to include certainty, then we do not have knowledge.
b) The insistence that knowledge must include certainty is manifest.
c) Certainty is the sole criterion for true knowledge according to Descartes.
d) Doubt is an essential element in the pursuit of true knowledge.
