There are times that an architectural scale is not available and a tape measure must be used to scale a drawing. Because this method is inherently less accurate, measurements are often taken to the 32nd of an inch. On a drawing that is scaled to 1/4"=1', convert the distances obtained by measuring objects on the print with a tape measure.
