Concerning the podcast This is an American Life, Paley noticed in her experience that her students would say either say "no" or "you can't join or play with us". Paley ended up conducting an experiment where she would tell the students to include them. Later on, she noticed that the resulted in the play area being empty. While it's a well-intentioned approach, it seeks to promote inclusivity and discourage hurtful actions among children. However, this rule can face challenges, for example, children tend to form close bonds with certain peers, which can lead to certain behaviors that aren't necessarily malicious but rather a part of childhood friendships. This rule can cause exclusion between their peers and their ability to interact independently.
