Why do we sometimes experience pain in two stages? (fast pain, then slow pain)
a) Fast pain is mediated by myelinated A delta fibers and represents the initial sharp sensation of pain, while slow pain is mediated by unmyelinated C fibers and represents the prolonged, dull ache that follows.
b) Fast pain is transmitted via the direct pathway model, while slow pain is transmitted via the indirect pathway model.
c) Fast pain is perceived immediately upon tissue damage, while slow pain is delayed and represents the secondary inflammatory response.
d) Fast pain is localized to the site of tissue damage, while slow pain is referred to distant areas of the body.
