introduction for an academic essay.
Using the following essay question write a one paragraph introduction containing a thesis
statement. (10)
Question:
Environmental engineers are responsible for analysing and managing the effects of human
activity on the environment. Environmental engineering centres on three main areas.
1. The disposal and management of waste products.
2. The reclamation of land degeneration, damaged and changed by urban spreading,
industrial projects and construction.
3. The control and mitigation of pollutants or effluents that have an adverse impact on the
natural environment.
Using the above as a starting point, write an introduction for an essay exploring how your
specific specialisation within engineering (mining, civil, aeronautical, etc.) can work
alongside environmental engineering to develop more sustainable engineering practices.
