Suppose that an unknown liquid gave a measured boiling range of 116–120°C and a measured density of 0.90 g/mL. The unknown dissolved in concentrated sulfuric acid. A silver nitrate test was negative. The bromine in methylene chloride test was positive, but the unknown required about half the number of drops of reagent required for a known alkene. Suggest a likely structure for the unknown using the tables found at the end of this experiment.
