When a contraindication is present with a patient in the clinic that you feel would benefit from soft tissue work:
a. you should avoid any soft tissue work in that area
b. you should consider the risk/reward and modify the strokes or depth depending on the circumstances
c. you should proceed as usual once you have obtained consent
d. you should apply soft tissue techniques as long as you ask the patient if it feels ok
