The basketball in the diagram is thrown from point A, travels up to point C, and then hits the ground at point E. Changes in the ball’s kinetic and potential energy are happening each moment. Calculate the potential energy at point C. The ball’s mass is 200 grams. Point C is 8 meters above ground zero. Make sure to show your work and include units.
Point E is the moment just before the ball hits the ground. How much kinetic energy would you expect to see at point E in ideal conditions? Why would you expect to see this?
If it wasn’t ideal conditions, and in fact the real world. How would the amount of kinetic energy change for point E? Why would there be a change in kinetic energy? How would they total energy change for this real world scenario?
