The patient is a 45-year-old male who underwent removal of 2.5cm firm mass of the lateral portion of
the proximal right thigh one week ago. Inspection of the operative site shows a normal healing
wound: Preoperative lab work showed a normal erythrocyte and leukocyte count. Histology of the
surgical specimen revealed an encapsulated lipoma. The etiology of the lipoma is unknown, but it is a
benign lesion. His prognosis is excellent.
