The average daily print circulation for the Philadelphia
Inquirer, a local newspaper, has declined each year
since the year 2000. To develop a model for
estimating circulation each year, the log of circulation
(in thousands) was computed and plotted for a
number of years since 2000.

Using the scatterplot and computer output, a
reasonable estimate of the average daily print
circulation in the year 2013 is:
30.7 thousand because y = 2.3619(13) - 0.0213 =
30.7.
8.04 thousand because
In y = -0.0213(13)+2.3619 2.085 and e2.085 = 8.04.
121.6 thousand because
log y=-0.0213(13)+2.3619 2.085 and 102.085 = 121.6.
278.7 thousand because
log y = -0,0064(13) +2.3619=2.2787 and 102.2787 = 190.
