Conservation of Momentum in Two-Dimensions Unit 3. Energy and Momentum Formal Lab The purpose of this investigation is to study conservation of momentum and kinetic energy in a two-dimensional collision for four types of collisions involving two masses. 1) a straight shot with one mass at rest. 2) a glancing blow shot with one mass at rest. 3) a linear head-on collision with two masses in motion. 4) a 2D collision with two masses in motion. Will the momentum be the same before the collision as it is after the collision? Will the kinetic energy be conserved?
