You are driving on a slippery road in a car with Anti-lock Brakes (ABS). If you need to make an emergency stop you should:
Push firmly on the brake pedal and then release it while steering toward the shoulder
Pump the brake pedal hard and fast while steering to correct any skids
Press down hard on the brake pedal, hold it down, and steer out of danger.
