You will start by researching all of the various programs, conferences, community service opportunities, and competitive events on a local, state, and national level (with a focus on the local level). This means that you will need to thoroughly research and explore the various opportunities in your community. All of the opportunities that you explore and find should align with the competencies, skills, and knowledge that you gained not only in this unit but in this course overall.
Once you have gathered all of this information, you will organize it into a personal leadership plan in either a word processing document or a slideshow presentation. The specific format and organization of this plan is up to you; however, each section (local, state, and national) should be clearly distinguishable from each other. Every opportunity that you include in the plan should be real events, programs, and opportunities that you could actually participate in one day if you should so choose.
For each program, conference, and event that you include in your plan/presentation, please make sure to detail the following:
What it is—a brief description
Where it is—location
How it might benefit you and/or your career
What requirements or pre-qualifications must you have to participate
Why this event, conference, or program interests you and what the likelihood is of you participating in this event one day
