Discussion Earthquakes and dams 5 pts

It has been suggested that the county build a large dam across a local river. A very large and deep lake would form behind the dam. A fault, that has not had an earthquake on it for fifty years, runs under where the lake will be located. How would the formation of the new lake effect the possibility of an earthquake along the fault.
