in this letter written too general robert loss, captain harry smith described the burnings of many buildings including the capitol he says that he wanted to burn all the buildings, however was only aloud too burn the public buildings. interestingly they were horrified at the order to burn the white house, the presidents home, and they had to be enticed too do so with a large meal. he often described his sailors as artist at work. similar to my other source its another veiw of the burnings that were occurring in which we needed to stop.
