tom posts signs around his neighborhood advertising a $50.00 reward to anyone who finds and returns his lost dog, spot. peter, who has not seen tom’s award sign, is walking down the street when he sees spot wandering around. peter picks spot up, sees tom’s name and address etched into the spot’s collar and returns spot to tom. peter finds out about the reward for finding and returning spot five days after he returned spot to tom and demands payment from tom. tom refuses to pay peter the $50.00 reward. peter sues tom for the $50.00. a court would rule that peter wins because he accepted tom’s reward offer of $50.00 by returning spot to tom.
