Slavery has been a central theme for the first half of this
course which defined the African American experience. How
did the institution of slavery evolve throughout this course?
What factors contribute to this change? How does race,
economics, and/or politics play into this evolution? Provide at
least three examples of the evolution of slavery we have
covered in the first half of the course. Remember, one does
not need to be enslaved to influence this evolution during this
