Beowulf is approximately 3,000 lines long. As of this week, our class has closely read approximately 500 lines of Beowulf. Why is this important? Well, that means we have approximately ONE QUARTER of the poem complete. So what does THAT mean? Well, that means we are ready to take our Beowulf Quarter Challenge! What's that, you ask? Well, that's when YOU create your own poem in ALLITERATIVE VERSE much like the anonymous poet(s) who composed Beowulf. What are the requirements for this assignment?
1. Create a 12-15 line poem;
2. Include at LEAST six instances of alliteration;
3. Include at LEAST two instances of assonance;
4. Include at LEAST two instances of consonance;
5. Include at LEAST one self-made symbolic kenning.
