Question 1 of 10
Ranjit needed to make a snack for his class party, so he asked his
grandmother to teach him to make samosas. They spent the afternoon
together at Ranjit's house as he learned the recipe. There were many
steps involved. He started by mixing the dough, but his grandmother
told him that he hadn't mixed it long enough. He also didn't have the
kind of peas he needed. But they laughed and talked and told stories
the whole afternoon.
At the end of the afternoon, Ranjit had a tray of soggy samosas that
tasted nothing like his grandmother's. To put it simply, they were awful.
His grandmother felt bad for him.
"That's O.K.," Ranjit said. "I'd rather have these terrible ones we made
together than some I bought from the best restaurant."
