1b. What do their choices of words or phrases tell you about their tone, the kind of relationship they are trying to create with their audience, or what kind of audience they expect?
2a. What sentence structures does the author employ? Consider the form of the sentences (short or long, fragments, etc.), as well as the style of the sentences (imperative, declarative, exclamatory, etc.).
2b. How do these sentence styles help the author achieve their purpose? How do they relate to the author’s purpose and audience?
3a. What rhetorical appeals (logos/ethos/pathos) appear in the text? (Note: usually all rhetorical appeals are present)
3b. Which rhetorical appeal seems most important to the text? Which one is the author relying on the most to accomplish their purpose with this audience? Why?
4a. Any other important rhetorical features or strategies you noticed?
4b. Why were these used?
