Metric Olympic Investigation
Problem: In the past, measurements varied due to the ruling figure in a kingdom. This caused
variations in the consistency of measurements. The metric system was introduced by the French in
1795 and then adopted globally around 1875. During this time the Olympic Games were revived
and used the newly adopted metric system as its units of measure for the games.
You and your group are to go through 4 station events and first estimate what is expected of each
event and record your information. You will then complete each event individually and record your
data. From the data collected you will then obtain a score based on the difference (
from your estimate and actual data collected.
After all the data is collected you will answer the questions to compare data from your classmates

Analysis
1. Explain what could cause the change in differences from the estimated data collected and
the actual data collected.
2. Explain what the difference, if any, was for the responding (dependent) variables from
station to station.
